Hamilton boys shine in Perth

Hamilton Gymnastics Club’s boys shone at the first men’s artistic event of the year.

The Scottish Gymnastics competitio­n programme got underway with the Grades Series 1 and Floor and Vault competitio­n at Perth’s Bell’s Sports Centre.

For some of them this was their first artistic competitio­n and the Hamilton boys put themselves firmly on the map with their fantastic winning performanc­es.

In the Floor and Vault competitio­n Ryan Nicholson came third, Zachary Scott was fourth and Matthew Mclaughlin finished ninth.

The boys’team came home with the silver medal.

In the Grades competitio­n the pre-level 1 boys took gold and silver in the individual competitio­n.

Lucas Duguid took the first place podium, with team-mate Paul Rough in second.

In the Level 1 in-age competitio­n, the youngsters shone with another one-two.

Toby Adam took the gold and Riley Stoddart brought home silver.

The Level 1 team, made up of Lucas, Paul, Toby and Riley also took the gold medal.

Team coach Shona Grigor was delighted for her young charges and said:“i’m very proud of the boys, with some of them competing in their first Men’s Artistic competitio­n.

“Their hard work and determinat­ion in training paid off with this fantastic result.”
