Ready to fumble... Woods holds up his hands

But it’s time to stop all silly errors, says Accies keeper

Gary Woods held his hands up for the howler that gave Rangers their second goal on Saturday – but insisted Hamilton can’t keep complainin­g about individual errors.

The usually-reliable Woods – who has been outstandin­g this season – fumbled Josh Windass’s shot into the net to give the Ibrox side a 2-1 lead.

And although David Templeton levelled shortly afterwards, that provided the catalyst as Windass went on to bag a hat-trick, with goals from Jamie Murphy and Alfredo Morelos adding to a comfortabl­e win in the end.

It could have been so different, with Darren Lyon blasting Accies into a shock sixth-minute lead, but Rangers were much too powerful in the end, and Dougie Imrie’s late penalty was a mere consolatio­n.

Woods said: “We started very well, but it’s the same old story where we keep giving goals away that are avoidable.

“Obviously I was the culprit for one of them, but it has been the story since we’ve come back from the winter break, and it needs to get addressed quickly, because we have a lot of games coming up against teams that are in and around us.

“When you start like that you know they’re going to come at you and they’re good going forward, but we need to be better defensivel­y as a whole team.
