Time to cut out mistakes

-

Darren Lyon scored his second goal against Rangers this season but was disappointed to end up on the losing side this time.

The midfielder netted in six minutes of Sunday’s clash at the Superseal, but Rangers powered back to win 5-3.

However, Accies showed forward power of their own, and Lyon says they can survive the drop if they tighten up in defence.

Lyon said:“it’s always good to score, but it’s disappointing the way the game went. I think the goals we conceded were preventable, especially after getting off to such a good start.

“The goals we conceded were from mistakes again, which was disappointing, but hopefully we can rectify that.

“I was speaking to a few of the boys after the game and we were saying that it’s so bizarre that you can score three goals at home against Rangers but still take nothing from the game, and that is the most disappointing thing.

“We would have liked to have taken something from the game, but the goals we conceded were sloppy.”

Lyon says a run of games that sees Hamilton host Partick Thistle before visiting Hibs and St Johnstone, can see Hamilton climb the table.

He said:“we can be good going forward – we scored three goals against Rangers, not many teams do that – so if we cut out the mistakes I’m sure we will be fine.”
