Well: We can take positives

-

Motherwell boss Stephen Robinson says there were positives to take from their 1-0 defeat against Kilmarnock on Saturday.

Stephen O’donnell’s strike was enough to take the points back to Ayrshire as they leapfrogged ’Well into the Premiership top six.

But Robinson says they will pick themselves up ahead of the trip to Dundee on Saturday.

He said:“we had a large amount of possession and we put 30 crosses into the box, but someone has to get on the end of them.

“I didn’t feel we were under any kind of threat, but our decision-making in the final third wasn’t good enough at times. Up until the final third of the pitch I thought some of it was excellent.

“We didn’t score the goals we probably deserved, but we will pick ourselves up and there are a lot of positives I can take from it.”

Striker Curtis Main conceded possession in midfield and O’donnell strode forward before unleashing a powerful low shot into the bottom left corner in 34 minutes to seal the points.

‘Well had nearly opened the scoring in 20 minutes when Chris Cadden’s cross was sliced by Kirk Broadfoot off his own post, with keeper Jamie Macdonald stranded.

Nadir Ciftci appeared to be pulled down inside the box, but referee Steven Mclean wasn’t interested. With 15 minutes left Main was brought down in the box, but again no penalty.
