Police who raided a Larkhall house looking for drugs seized a stun gun disguised as a mobile phone as well as cocaine worth nearly £2000.

Scott Ritchie, who was in bed when the officers came calling, was warned at Hamilton Sheriff Court that he is facing a jail sentence.

Ritchie (25) admitted being concerned in the supply of cocaine at this then home in John Street on April 6 last year.

His girlfriend Emma Simpson (23), walked free when her not guilty plea to the charge was accepted.

Ritchie also admitted illegal possession of the Chinese-made Kelin K95 stun gun, which was capable of delivering a high-voltage electric shock.

Imran Bashir, prosecuting, said officers got a drugs search warrant for the house and forced entry at 10.35am. They found Ritchie sleeping in bed. He was alone in the house but told the police his girlfriend and their young child stayed with him.

Cocaine weighing 48g and worth £1930 if divided into 1g street deals was found in a white tub along with plastic bags. Scales and other items associated with drug dealing were also seized.

Mr Bashir told the court: “Officers decided that any mobile phone found should also be seized as part of the investigation.

“They found what appeared to be a phone but then realised it was a stun gun designed to look like a phone.

“The device was sent for forensic examination and found to be in working order.”

Sheriff Vincent Smith called for background reports and deferred sentence until April 11.

He agreed to continue bail but told Ritchie, now of Scotstounhill, Glasgow: “You will appreciate the likelihood of receiving a custodial sentence.”
