Choir join 80s hitmakers
An award-winning Lanarkshire theatre group shared the same bill as some of Scotland’s top musicians at the weekend.
The talented Ups and Downs Theatre Group’s Choir 21 was the opening act for a charity concert on Sunday night.
They performed at the Sandfest Concert in Glasgow’s Royal Concert Hall in Glasgow alongside The Bluebells, Clare Grogan, Grahame Skinner and compere Sanjeev Kohli from‘still Game’.
And the house band Sandford City Rockers were made up of musicians from Aztec Camera, Del Amitri and Love and Money.
All proceeds will go towards Down’s Syndrome Scotland.
The choir performed‘saturday Night at the Movies’,‘the Bare Necessities’,‘chitty, Chitty, Bang, Bang’and Abba’s‘doesyour Mother Know’.
Vicki Mccluskey, president of the Ups and Downs Theatre Group, said: “The performance was fantastic.
“Our kids did a brilliant job on stage and weren’t a bit nervous beforehand. They just wanted to get on stage and have a great time. We are all so proud of them.”
Ups and Downs is made up of children and young adults with Down’s syndrome and their siblings. It was formed in 1995 and holds an annual show at Hamilton Town House.
