Imrie: We should’ve held firm

-

Dougie Imrie admits it was disappointing to leave Dingwall with only a point after battling back from a goal down to lead Ross County with just 15 minutes left on the clock.

Imrie inspired Accies to turn the game on its head within eight minutes of his second half arrival from the bench, but the visitors conceded a 75th-minute equaliser.

He said:“we made it difficult in the first half, allowed too many balls into our box and we allowed Ross County to grow in the game.

“I thought we were a little bit nervy, because we knew how much was at stake, but in the second half we were excellent, getting the two goals early.

“However, the second goal we conceded was sloppy. It’s just another cross into the box and another free runner, so that’s disappointing.

“Coming up before the game we would probably have taken a point, but with the way we started the second half and went in front, it’s disappointing and probably two points dropped.

“Going 2-1 up, we should have seen the game out, but credit to the boys, we dug in after they pulled it back to 2-2 because they put us under a wee bit of pressure.”

Imrie added:“if we had won that, I think we could maybe have ruled Ross County out of the equation, but a point is a point, we move on, and we look forward now to St Johnstone, which will be another tough game.”
