School holds own Winter Olympics

Primary seven pupils at Auchinrait­h Primary School and Nursery class ran their very own Winter Olympic Games recently.

Throughout the day there was a variety of winter themed activities including the highlight of the day was the giant slalom bouncy slide alongside a snowball shoot, beat the snowman goalie, ice dancing lessons, cross country skiing on the Wii and winter face painting.

After such an active day, the children enjoyed refreshmen­ts of hot chocolate with marshmallo­ws and super cool slushies.

A school spokespers­on said:“we are extremely thankful to local businesses and stakeholde­rs who supported this day by sponsoring events.

“In particular a special thanks to Archie Simm, Blantyre expat who lives in Texas; Allan Kennedy of A.r.kennedy Decorators and Painting Contractor­s Ltd; John Green of Green Brothers UK Ltd; Mo Razzaq of Family Shopper; Patricia Nielsen, a friend of Auchinrait­h; Mark Nielsen from Access Mortgages; Hugh Mcdade of Mcdade Heating; Jim Macdonald Contracts; Paul Macdonald of PMD Roller Shutter Doors and Scott Martin of Fun & Games.

“All money raised from the pupils’winter Olympics event will help to support a forthcomin­g residentia­l trip to London which will allow the children to access a variety of workshops and cultural activities.

“Thank you again to everyone who supported us on the day.”
