School holds own Winter Olympics
Primary seven pupils at Auchinraith Primary School and Nursery class ran their very own Winter Olympic Games recently.
Throughout the day there was a variety of winter themed activities including the highlight of the day was the giant slalom bouncy slide alongside a snowball shoot, beat the snowman goalie, ice dancing lessons, cross country skiing on the Wii and winter face painting.
After such an active day, the children enjoyed refreshments of hot chocolate with marshmallows and super cool slushies.
A school spokesperson said:“we are extremely thankful to local businesses and stakeholders who supported this day by sponsoring events.
“In particular a special thanks to Archie Simm, Blantyre expat who lives in Texas; Allan Kennedy of A.r.kennedy Decorators and Painting Contractors Ltd; John Green of Green Brothers UK Ltd; Mo Razzaq of Family Shopper; Patricia Nielsen, a friend of Auchinraith; Mark Nielsen from Access Mortgages; Hugh Mcdade of Mcdade Heating; Jim Macdonald Contracts; Paul Macdonald of PMD Roller Shutter Doors and Scott Martin of Fun & Games.
“All money raised from the pupils’winter Olympics event will help to support a forthcoming residential trip to London which will allow the children to access a variety of workshops and cultural activities.
