Dalserf win schools’ tournament
Larkhall’s Dalserf Primary School have been praised after coming out on top of a seven-team football tournament.
Dalserf saw off Gilmourton, Glassford, Netherburn, Quarter and Sandford, and beat St Mary’s Primary 3-1 in the final to win the Small Schools’football Tournament.
Head teacher Nicola Thomas said:“i am delighted that once again Dalserf Primary have won the competition.
“The team train hard with our janitor Mr Muir each week and enjoy participating in tournaments.
“I am particularly proud of the sporting attitude which our players have adopted over the year and the team are representative of the bigger team which we have at Dalserf.”
Councillor Isobel Dorman said:“i would like to congratulate Dalserf in winning the tournament again.
“It is great to see smaller schools compete in the five-a-side, where they wouldn’t have the opportunity against bigger schools.
“I would like to thank all the staff and coaches for their help and participation in the tournament.
“I would particularly like to thank Felix Dillon, janitor at Quarter Primary, for organising the tournament and refereeing on the day.
“I look forward to the tournament next year, although some of the pupils will have moved on to high school.
“I wish them every success in whichever career path they choose.”
