Gin fans keep their cool to beat heat
Almost 1000 people discovered the ideal tonic to the scorching weather at Hamilton’s first gin festival.
The top tipple was the talk of the town on Saturday as everyone got in the spirit.
Hamilton Town House hosted the Ginfall Gin Festival and organisers were delighted to raise a glass to its success.
With live music and entertainment, those at the event were also able to try their hand at making their own gin cocktail.
John Mciver, the main organiser of Ginfall, said: “The festival was a massive success.
“Nearly 1000 people from Hamilton and the surrounding areas joined us on a scorching Saturday to take part in a fantastic celebration of everything gin.
“Several gin exhibitors, seasoned festival exhibitors, proclaimed it to be the best Scottish gin festival of the year so far.
“Everyone was impressed at the variety of gins to sample and many people left with bags full of some of the best gin in the land.
“Attendees were hungry for knowledge about this fantastic spirit and through speaking to the exhibitors, sampling the huge range on offer and attending the gin masterclasses nobody was disappointed.
“In the Avon Room the live music from our Rat Pack tribute act was a great accompaniment to the refreshing gin cocktails on offer plus everyone enjoyed the food and gin-related stalls, including the fabulous bake stall offering the most incredible gin and tonic loaf and cupcakes.
“Most people also took part in the various raffles and prize draws on the day, with two lucky ladies each winning ten bottles of premium Scottish gin.
“I would also like to say that the management team and staff at Hamilton Town House were exceptional. We are already looking forward to Hamilton Ginfall 2019.”
