Goals galore in midweek league card

More than 40 goals were scored in the midweek league card, with Thorniewoo­d United hosting a nine-goal League Two clash as they went down 6-3 against Forth.

Larkhall Thistle again found themselves on the receiving end of a goals spree as they lost 8-0 in their Championsh­ip clash against Cumbernaul­d United at Gasworks Park.

Wishaw beat Royal Albert 3-2 in League One at the Beltane, Bellshill drew 1-1 at home to Greenock, Shotts were held 1-1 at East Kilbride Thistle and Blantyre Vics lost 2-0 at home to Gartcairn.

In League Two, Lesmahagow and Lanark drew 2-2, Carluke Rovers won 3-1 at Saltcoats Vics, and Vale of Clyde beat Newmains 3-2.

John Paul Grant hit Wishaw’s opener in 13 minutes, Albert equalised three minutes later through Michael Arthur, then Greg Fernie fired them in front again.

Vinnie Mcguire levelled in 53 minutes, with Grant hitting the winner in 77 minutes.

Lee Nichol bagged Bellshill’s goal in their 1-1 at home to Greenock, and Michael Collander got Shotts’goal at East Kilbride with three minutes left.

Lesmahagow and Lanark served up a 2-2 cracker at Craighead Park in League Two.

Shaun Gallagher put United ahead, Paul Woodlock and Jon Mcstay scored to put ’Gow 2-1 ahead, and in the 90th minute Ian Watt equalised direct from a corner.

Carluke bounced back from a goal down to beat Saltcoats Vics 3-1, with goals from Sam Biggart and an Eddie Haley double, one of which was from a penalty.

Stephen Larkin hit an early double and Kris Jarvie netted a single to give Forth a 3-0 lead at Thorniewoo­d.

Mclelland pulled a goal back, then Scott Watson made it 4-1. Damon Welsh hit a double to bring United back into the game, but trialist Kevin Hamill and Larkin netted to clinch the 6-3 win, and Larkin’s hat-trick.

Newmains raced into a 2-0 interval lead through Martin Hannaway and William Mcglone, but Vale of Clyde struck three times in the second half to take the points.

John Paul Grant put Wishaw ahead through a penalty, only for Albert to take a 2-1 lead through Michael Aitken and Greg Fernie.
