Mailman hopes for home delivery

-

Charlie Flynn hopes taking to the ring in front of a home crowd can get his boxing career back on track.

Flynn will fight at Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility in Motherwell on Saturday, September 29.

The fight, against an as-yet unidentified opponent, will be his first since his second bout with Ryan Collins for the Celtic Lightweight title ended in another clash of heads.

That fight at the Hydro in Glasgow ended in a technical draw, but Flynn is hoping for a big win this time.

He said:“i can’t wait to box a home show at Ravenscraig in Motherwell.

“It’s where I train almost every day, so it will be great to fight there.

“The fight has only just been confirmed, so I’m not sure who my opponent will be yet.

“I will be headlining though, and I’m sure it’s going to be a great night.”

With both of his last two fights finishing early, the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games star is desperate to go the distance this time around, and prove he is still one of Scotland’s best fighters.

He said:“i’ve had a couple of disappointing fights in the last few years. It has been frustrating.

“I’m looking forward to getting in there and proving myself again.

“I don’t know what kind of fight this will be, but it will be at least eight rounds, maybe 10.

“I do eight rounds in sparring all the time, but it is different doing it in the ring for real.”

Tickets will be available at Ravenscraig from Monday, August 25.
