Right royal laughs for new MBE dad
Amazement when‘queen’appeared at party
A Blantyre family played a royal blinder on their dad after he accepted his investiture as an MBE last week.
Sandy Wilkie, of Bardykes Farm, was at Buckingham Palace to receive the honour from the Prince of Wales, Prince Charles, for services to the dairy industry and community, before returning to fivestar hotel the Dorchester Penthouse for a special celebration.
And with an array of family and friends gathering to help Sandy celebrate, jaws literally dropped as ‘Her Majesty the Queen’ graced the party.
Touring the room – handbag, hat and pearls to the fore – the ‘Queen’ happily posed for selfies with the guests, and even took a pic with one of Sandy’s grandchildren on her knee.
It was, of course, all in the name of fun, with Sandy’s children, Craig and Kimberly, arranging for the look-alike to join the party.
Sandy’s proud sister Agnes explained: “Sandy and his guests were shocked and thrilled when the Queen walked into the after-party at the Dorchester Penthouse last week.
“It was hilarious to see the jaws literally drop to the floor when she appeared.
“And despite having received his MBE from her son HRH Prince Charles, who completed the more formal honours earlier at Buckingham Palace, it was definitely the cream on the top for Sandy, milkman of the British Empire!”
Sandy is a sales and marketing maestro at Mueller Wiseman Dairies.
