St Mary’s Church in Hamilton will be the venue for an organ concert this Friday evening.
Organist David Hamilton will play just two pieces – a sonata by Stanford and a Chorale Fantasia by Reger.
The Stanford was written 100 years ago and is based on his well-known hymn Engelberg.
And the work by Reger is based on a German chorale called Straf Mich Nicht and was written in 1899. Both works are ideally suited to the church’s organ, a fine Victorian instrument built in 1889 and recently restored to its original condition.
Admission to the concert, 7.30pm at the church on Auchingramont Road, is by donation programme (£7/5/1) and includes refreshments.
