Leisurecentre concernsraised

Hamilton Advertiser - - ALL ABOUT LANARKSHIRE -

Angry leisure centre users have been left hot and bothered for a second time in months following the closure of the facility’s steam room.

Users have hit out because Larkhall Leisure Centre’s steam room has been shut for seven months.

One elderly user said:“it took them months to repair and then they get it up and running and now it’s closed again.

“Many pensioners, like myself, pay for the yearly membership and we certainly haven’t had access all year round. Fixing things at the leisure centre doesn’t seen to be a priority, leaving many of us wondering about the future of the facility.”

A spokesperson for South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture said: “The steam room at Larkhall Leisure Centre has been out of action since May due to the steam generators not working.

“As it has not been possible to source suitable replacement parts we have had to look at redesigning the existing steam room.

“This has now been agreed and a specialist supplier has been appointed to carry out the work. A suitable date will be arranged for the works to be carried out.”
