Goal star hailed by captain

Hamilton Advertiser - - SPORT -

Hamilton club captain Dougie Imrie says James Keatings can be a winner – just like David Templeton or Ali Crawford.

Imrie has faith in the striker being the man who can haul Accies up the table, having set up two and scored one in a 3-1 win at St Mirren on Saturday.

Midfielder Imrie benefited from that, sending a header looping over Danny Rogers for the opener, and he said:“i think if we can keep Keatsy fit he’s going to be our match-winner going forward.

“He’s similar to Temps and wee Ali, he pops up with two assists and a wonder-goal to finish the game off.

“St Mirren getting the goal at the end of the first half meant they went in with a bit of confidence. They were going to come out for the second half firing on all cylinders, and it was important we got the third goal to kill it off and we did.

“After they went down to 10 men I thought we saw the game out comfortably.”

Imrie added:“it was massive that we won the game and you saw the performance and attitude of everyone in doing it.

“I know we’ve been on a bit of a bad run at the moment, but we’re always in there fighting, we always give our best.

“I know the results haven’t been coming, but we will pick up wins with the commitment and attitude of the players we’ve got here.

“Everyone from start to finish gave everything for the club.”
