Lanark crash out of ‘Scottish’
Lanark United’s Macron Scottish Junior Cup dream ended on Saturday which they lost 3-1 away to Rossvale.
Rossvale opened the scoring in seven minutes when Matt Niven netted from close range, and Lanark twice went close through Hugh Kerr and Declan Lafferty, before keeper Gareth Hallford kept the Lanarkshire side in the game by smothering a Stephen Mcgladrigan effort on the line.
Lanark drew level through Ian Watt two minutes into the second half, but Rossvale restored their lead in 58 minutes when Liam Mcgonigle beat Hallford with a low drive.
They sealed the win in 68 minutes when Mcgladrigan scored with a low shot after cutting in from the right.
Lanark’s day was worsened when Peter O’donnell was sent off in stoppage time.
