A man has been stabbed following a fight that broke out in Blantyre on Saturday.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the serious assault that took place in Wolcott Drive, Blantyre.

At around 6.55pm on Saturday, December 29, police were called to a fight involving around six to eight males all wearing black clothing and hooded tops.

The injured man was taken by ambulance to Hairmyres Hospital where he is currently being treated.

Detective Constable Andrew Fearnside at Cambuslang CID, appealed for witnesses and said: “This would appear to be a totally unprovoked attack on a man who had nothing to do with the group of men who were fighting in the street.

“Officers are currently carrying out local enquiries and viewing CCTV footage to try and gain more information and are appealing to anyone with information to contact Cambuslang CID via telephone number 101 quoting incident number 3466 of 29 December 2018.”

The cabin was set on fire at around 10pm on December 27.

Police say that the suspects placed rubbish next to the cabin and have set that alight causing the fire to take hold of the cabin.

Anyone who has any information on this incident is asked to contact police on 101
