Charity evening for Amelia

-

A charity fundraising evening is set to take place at Blantyre Miners’welfare in aid of a cancerstricken five-year-old.

The event on Sunday, January 27, will raise funds for the family of Hamilton girl Amelia Mackie, who was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia just weeks before Christmas.

Blantyre singer Keri Taylor will perform as Cher, alongside her daughter Taylor Sheppard, for the sell-out crowd.

Keri’s partner Duncan Mccallum will also perform as musical maestro Michael Buble, and there will also be Rod Stewart, Tina Turner, Madonna and Elvis tribute acts.

And Keri said: “The show is a complete sell-out and we are delighted that it has been so popular with the people of Blantyre, who are keen to come out and support little Amelia and her family.

“We’re looking forward to seeing you all on January 27 and raising money and awareness of childhood cancer.”

Amelia, a pupil at St Mary’s Primary School pupil, of Hamilton, was diagnosed with cancer after initially complaining of having sore legs.

The youngster then developed a swelling of her eyes, sores in her mouth, a loss of colour and was constantly tired and falling asleep before being rushed to the Southern General Hospital in Glasgow within a matter of hours, after her parents took her to an out-of-hours GP.

She will undergo a two-year care plan of treatment and recently endured a bone marrow operation and another bout of chemotherapy.

Anyone wishing to donate raffle prizes should call Keri on 07989 633813.
