Milton view Panto was a smash hit!

-

Dear editor, Here are some of my hopes for 2019 in no particular order.

The SNP will, in the national interest, abandon all thoughts of INDYREF2.

Drivers in Hamilton will cease to view stopping at red lights as optional.

The SNP will replace the council tax with a fairer more progressive system as promised over a decade ago.

All the traffic problems of Peacock Cross will be resolved.

Hamilton Town Centre will once again be the bustling heart of Hamilton, as it once was.

The SNP will actually achieve one of its many “challenging” targets it has set.

The faulty bulbs in the lamp standards outside Iceland will be replaced since I first complained about them in May 2018.

I will be able to compliment a lady without being branded patronising, or worse still a sexual predator.

Mrs May will return from Brussels with a wonderful Brexit deal that will unify the country and Parliament.

Vegans will stop telling me that they are saving the planet.

Finally, the slugs will not decimate my Hostas, but I feel, even though I am an optimist, this last hope may be a hope too far.

John L. Rimmer, address supplied It was a busy week on the Hamilton Advertiser’s Facebook page.

Many of our readers commented on our story about Blantyre’s very own pantomime which was a huge success, with hundreds of people supporting the production.

Written and directed by Blantyrebased actor Ryan Fletcher, Aladdie was a fun festive tale about not just any laddie, but in fact Blantyre’s very own boy about town.

Ryan took to the stage as villain Abanazer at Carrigan’s Blantyre during a fortnight-long run, while fellow Blantyre actor Gary Bennet landed the title role. Well done to the Blantyre boys, mum and dad must be proud. Hope you do it all again next year, never laughed so much, well done!
