Man to face trial over mall threats

A Hamilton man is in custody after allegedly threatenin­g to blow up East Kilbride’s Olympia Shopping Centre.

Ross Macdonald (32), of Strathaven Road, is accused of shouting abuse and threats in the centre on December 22.

It’s further alleged that, after being given bail in relation to the charge, he caused a disturbanc­e on January 5.

Macdonald is said to have yelled offensive comments and threats in Strathaven Road, in an ambulance, at Hairmyres Hospital, in a police car and in Cathcart police station in Glasgow.

Further charges allege that he spat on two police officers, kicked two other officers and resisted arrest.

Macdonald denied all the charges when he appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court this week. Trial was set for February 6 and he was remanded in custody.
