Sooty sweeps into town

Hamilton Advertiser - - NEWS -

Hamilton Town House will be taken over by a flying car, a singing unicorn and even a levitating sausage when Sooty makes an appearance.

The children’s favourite, who celebrated his 70th birthday last year, will be joined by Sweep and Soo for the Sooty’s Magic Show tour, which kicks off next month.

And the trio will be joined by TV pal Richard Cadell for the brand new theatre tour, swinging in to the Town House on Friday, April 12. Sooty was very busy in 2018. To mark 70 years of entertaining children, he headed back to Blackpool North Pier, where he was discovered, to host a free birthday party and celebrate in style.

The Blackpool bash also included a special live performance of The Sooty Show, with all proceeds going to the local hospice, Donna’s Dreamhouse, NHS Teaching Hospital Blackpool and Sooty’s long-standing charity partner, The Royal National Institute of Blind People.

The celebrations continued into September with Sooty and the gang’s announcement of a brand-new television series on ITVBE.

This marked 50 years since The Sooty Show first appeared on ITV in 1968!

The new episodes saw Sooty, Sweep and Soo enjoying a whole host of different adventures and included top celebrity cameos from Peter Andre, Lisa Riley, John Challis and Steps star Faye Tozer.

And the year was rounded off in November with a performance to help HRH Prince Charles celebrate his own 70th birthday at the London Palladium as part of ITV’S ‘We Are Most Amused and Amazed’ - an exciting celebration of comedy and magic for Prince Charles, in aid of The Prince’s Trust Charity.

With special guests, circus star Michael Jordan and the ultraviolet specialities of Fantasie de la Nuit, Sooty’s Magic Show is set to be a spectacular treat for the whole family and even includes a chance to meet Richard and Sooty after the show!

There will be two shows at the Town House on April 12 – at 11am and 2.30pm.
