On the ball after footy tourney win

North Lanarkshir­e Leisure’s walking football team, representi­ng Scotland, won the home nations tournament.

Jean Jones, Provost of North Lanarkshir­e held a civic lunch in recognitio­n of them winning the Home Countriest­rophy.

Nicky Laughlin, football developmen­t co-ordinator with North Lanarkshir­e Leisure, said: “Congratula­tions to the team, they have done incredibly well to become national champions.

“Age is no barrier to keeping fit. Being active is more important than ever to maintainin­g good physical and mental health and our walking football is a great way to do that while socialisin­g with like-minded friends.”
