North La­nark­shire Leisure’s walk­ing foot­ball team, rep­re­sent­ing Scot­land, won the home na­tions tour­na­ment.

Jean Jones, Provost of North La­nark­shire held a civic lunch in recog­ni­tion of them win­ning the Home Coun­trie­stro­phy.

Nicky Laugh­lin, foot­ball de­vel­op­ment co-or­di­na­tor with North La­nark­shire Leisure, said: “Con­grat­u­la­tions to the team, they have done in­cred­i­bly well to be­come na­tional cham­pi­ons.

“Age is no bar­rier to keep­ing fit. Be­ing ac­tive is more im­por­tant than ever to main­tain­ing good phys­i­cal and men­tal health and our walk­ing foot­ball is a great way to do that while so­cial­is­ing with like-minded friends.”
