Volunteer group looking forward to a busy 2019
Larkhall and District Volunteer Group are back with a packed schedule for the year ahead.
Every Monday, the centre hosts their genealogy group where members have free access to the library edition of Ancestry.com.
Current members and helpers delve into their past history to find out what their ancestors have been up to.
Tuesdays will see the new computer classes, which start on January 15.
The class for beginners, which runs from 10am to noon, is fully booked at the moment, but names are being taken for the next session, which will begin in March.
A new intermediate class for people with some knowledge, but who want to take it to the next stage, will be run from noon to 2pm and there are still places available for this one.
There will also be a walking group who meet up on Tuesdays, and they will take part in a variety of walks around the area.
It is essential that booking is made in advance for this activity, as there are limited spaces on the bus.
Wednesday is for the gardening group, who get together to enjoy a variety of gardening experiences which include potting and planting, maintaining raised beds, planning and preparing for the plant sales and crafts and going on outings. Come along and share your ideas.
On a Thursday morning and Friday morning and afternoon, there are keep fit classes.
Along with all of this, there is a monthly tea dance, alternately on a Wednesday and Friday.
The football classics group meet monthly on a Wednesday to discuss and watch classics goals and matches, share knowledge and companionship and create the correct atmosphere by scoffing pies, mushy peas, and Bovril at half-time.
A spokesperson for LDVG said: “We look forward to welcoming you back to all your groups and activities and we would like to remind you of all the options you can choose from.
“There’s lots going on and hopefully you will find something to suit your interests, as we would like to encourage new members and new volunteers to join us.”
