Girl needed treatment in blaze drama

A schoolgirl was treated by paramedics following a deliberate blaze at a house in Hamilton at the weekend.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the wilful fire-raising which took place at a house in Milton Terrace, Udston.

Officers say that at around 11.45pm on Sunday, January 13, emergency services attended a report of fire at a house in Milton Terrace, Hamilton.

The fire service extinguish­ed the fire and two men aged 40 and 46, one woman aged 30 and one sevenyear-old girl were treated for smoke inhalation.

Following a joint investigat­ion with SFRS, the fire is being treated as suspicious.

Detective Constable John Law at Cambuslang CID said:“thankfully no-one was seriously injured as a result of this cowardly act and it is vital that we trace the person or persons responsibl­e.

“I would like to speak to anyone who may have seen anything suspicious or witness a person or persons acting suspicious­ly in the vicinity of Milton Terrace.

“Anyone with informatio­n who could help us trace the person or persons responsibl­e should contact police at Cambuslang via 101 quoting incident number 3879 of 13 January 2019.”

Alternativ­ely calls can be made to Crimestopp­ers where anonymity can be maintained.
