A Blantyre singer who penned a song about his beloved football team is living the dream – as it is beamed to over 60,000 fellow fans at every home match.
Joe Gallacher, who plays in Toy Tin Soldier, penned A Club Where All Belong about SPL champions Celtic a few years back, but only decided recently to release it.
Having recorded a video for the song, featuring a host of fellow Celtic supporters and with full backing from the club, it is now being shown on the big screens at every home match.
And all proceeds from the sale of the song are being donated to the club’s charity, the Celtic FC Foundation.
Joe told the Advertiser: “It’s been great working so closely with the team I’ve spent my entire life supporting.
“Every wee boy grows up wanting to play for the team they support, and I grew up wanting to play for Celtic. I suppose my only way to do that now is by writing a song about the club and then have them support it, which they have wholeheartedly.
“It’s a real buzz to see it beamed to over 60,000 fans on match day.”
Such was the popularity of A Club Where All Belong among the Celtic crowds that it was even at number nine in the itunes chart prior to Christmas, boosting the funds for the foundation.
Joe added: “The Celtic Foundation do fantastic work in really important areas of society; local families and pensioners who face poverty and hardship and a number of charities who care for those experiencing the torment of homelessness or other disadvantage, and it has been an honour to support that.
“I hope it’s the start of a long and successful relationship with both the foundation and the club itself.”
