Parking ticket ruins dieting comedian’s secret curry plan

-

Up-and-coming comedian Gary Faulds visited Hamilton today - and left with a parking ticket.

The Glaswegian comic nipped into the Town House, where his forthcoming show on February 9 is the fastest-selling in a decade.

After meeting with the Advertiser, the social media sensation treated himself to a curry at the Bombay Cottage.

And he was humorously furious to discover the parking ticket on his windscreen as he recorded a Facebook live video for his 93,500 followers.

After raving about the Bombay Cottage, and putting it in his top three Indian restaurants, he fumed: “Aw man, I’ve got a parking ticket. You’ve got to be joking me, what is this, London?

“Sixty quid for a £10 curry. This place is a scam!

“Now I need to explain to my wife, because she’s going to be like, ‘why were you parked outside the Bombay?’.

“She’s going to know I’ve ruined the diet. I’m supposed to be doing Slimming World with her and counting the calories, and now I’ve just been exposed.”

Tickets for Gary Faulds Live! at the Town House went on sale in August, and were snapped up in just a matter of hours.

The venue, which has around 750 seats, will offer Gary the chance to perform in front of his largest-ever audience.

The show will be a return to Hamilton for the comedian, and comes amidst a tour which has sold out four Glasgow Comedy Festivals and various theatres all over the UK.

As well as visiting the Town House, Gary swung by the Advertiser office and was delighted to be chosen as a forthcoming Reader of the Week.

In addition to a copy of Lanarkshire’s biggest-selling newspaper, Gary received a box of chocolates – which he comfort ate in the car after receiving the parking ticket.

South Lanarkshire Council’s Head of Roads and Transportation, Gordon Mackay, said: “I’d like to congratulate Gary on selling out the Hamilton Town House. It is a fantastic venue.

“I can’t offer to cancel the parking ticket but he can get it at the reduced rate of £30 if he pays the penalty charge within 14 days and we promise not to tell Mrs Faulds about the curry.”
