A hilarious video of a cute Celtic-supporting ‘singing’ dog from Blantyre went viral this week.

Ruby the cockapoo, owned by Monica Whelan, is an internet hit across the world after the family uploaded a video of their beloved pet performing The Celtic Song.

In the minute-long clip, made using the My Talking Pet app, adorable Ruby appears to be belting out the lyrics, including ‘For it’s a grand old team to play for, for it’s a grand old team to see’.

The year-old pooch has had the internet world in stitches, with over 21,000 views on one Facebook page alone and thousands more likes, shares and retweets around the world.

Ruby’s doting mum Monica, a support staff worker at St Marks’ Primary School in Hamilton, told the Advertiser: “To be honest, we filmed the video last May just after Celtic won the league and it’s been on my phone since.

“We uploaded it to Facebook over the weekend, simply for a laugh and to cheer up any fellow Celtic fans we know, and it has gone mental.

“My husband had the dog out a walk on Sunday and people were actually stopping him and asking if that was his dog in the Celtic video!

“Ruby has, of course, been lapping up the attention.”

Mum-of-two Monica added: “It just goes to show, no matter the football affiliation, that we are all a nation of dog lovers.”
