The Lanarkshire Business Excellence Awards 2019 have officially opened for entries.

Now in its 26th year, the event allows businesses and organisations, of all sizes and sectors, to enter a wide range of categories, with the winners being announced on stage at a glittering awards ceremony.

The awards, hosted by North and South Lanarkshire Councils, are one of the longest-established events of their kind highlighting the success and diversity of the Lanarkshire business community.

Last week, councillors, sponsors and guests gathered at the Hamilton office of main sponsor Made in Scotland for the official launch.

Motherwell North Councillor Olivia Carson opened the awards and said: “I would like to thank you all for coming along today. Your support of the Lanarkshire Business Excellence Awards is greatly appreciated.

“This is the 26th year of the Lanarkshire Business Awards. They were created to celebrate and promote the success and achievements of Lanarkshire businesses. That we are continuing to celebrate that success 26 years on, and that the popularity of the awards continue to grow year on year, demonstrates the entrepreneurship, determination and tenacity of Lanarkshire’s businesses and people.

“North and South Lanarkshire Councils are delighted to jointly host the awards, but we are all well aware we wouldn’t be able to run them without the support of Lanarkshire businesses.

“The importance of Lanarkshire businesses to the local economy must never be underestimated and both councils are committed to helping them start up and grow.”

Director of Made in Scotland, Martin Mccrum, said the team were delighted to be the principle sponsors and added: “We are privileged and honoured to be the sponsors of the Lanarkshire Business Excellence Awards.

“We pride ourselves on understanding the needs of small to medium-sized enterprises. This way any websites we create or any digital marketing services we provide are guaranteed to get the results required. Made In Scotland are delighted to sponsor the Lanarkshire Business Excellence Awards 2019 and our expert team are on hand to assist any business across Lanarkshire seeking help with their website, digital marketing strategy or company branding.”

This year, there are 10 categories and they are free to enter and open to all Lanarkshire businesses. The winners of each category will be announced at the awards dinner on Friday, May 31, at Motherwell Concert Hall.

This year’s event will be hosted by actress and comedian Elaine C Smith. The black tie event attracts over 450 guests and always sells out. Tickets go on sale in March and are priced £80 plus vat per person and £750 plus vat for a table of 10.

Tickets include a drinks reception, four-course meal and half-bottle of wine per person. For more information, and to register your vote, visit lanarkshirebusinessevents. co.uk
