Blantyre team are certainly on the ball

Blantyre Vics 2011s enjoyed their first ever football competition last week.

The squad took part in the Little Kerse Tournament 2019 in Grangemouth, and made their coaches and parents proud.

Coach Alan Robertson said:“what a day in Grangemouth at the weekend, where our 2011 boys played their first ever games of five-aside, and they didn’t disappoint.

“Great performances from both teams, and the boys really did well with their positioning and disciplined performances.

“Both goalies handled their first games between the sticks very well and all the outfield players were up to their usual high standards, scoring some great goals and putting in some great passing moves.” And he added:“well done all.” Meanwhile, the team have been kitted out thanks to a sponsorship deal with Slimming World.

The Slimming World classes who provided the financial assistance were the groups in Hamilton, Blantyre, Bothwell, Uddingston and Tannochside.

Slimming World team developer Anita Kerr said:“we were delighted to be given the opportunity to sponsor Blantyre Vic’s 2011 football team, because at Slimming World we know how important it is to keep active.

“Blantyre Vics football teams are really making a difference across the community and the children love it.”
