We can do it

-

Hamilton boss Brian Rice is confident he can steer his side to Premiership safety, despite seeing them lost 2-0 at Hibs on Saturday.

Rice says that over the last couple of weeks in training and his three games in charge, he’s seen enough to suggest there is hope.

He said:“the game at Hibs taught me a lot about myself, things I need to work on a lot.

“It taught me a lot about the team. There were things I liked, things I didn’t like, but the spirit was great again, they never gave up.

“They need to take things on board. It was an honest mistake with the lad who did it, I’ll never hang anybody out to dry.

“I’m really disappointed to lose, but at the end of the day, I saw enough to think there’s enough there to work with.

“I’ve learned they want to work and they want to learn. They’re trying to buy into the ideas and they’re adaptable.

“I ask for a never-say-die attitude, to never give up, to play for the badge, play for the jersey. It means everything to me, it should mean everything to you.”

Rice conceded Accies didn’t help themselves against Hibs, but didn’t think the capital side were streets ahead.

He said:“they had three crosses into the box – they got a goal, a penalty, and one hit the bar.

“I didn’t think they were any better than us, that’s my own personal opinion, and I’m only worrying about my own team.

“The boys worked their socks off, but the quality in the first half needed to be better. We worked on things during the week and Hibs got a goal because we didn’t do it properly.”
