BLANTYRE LIVINGSTON­E MEMORIAL CHURCH

The Reverend Murdo Macdonald will lead us in worship on Sunday, February 24, in St Andrew’s Parish Church at 10am. This will be a United Thinking Day Service. All welcome to attend. There will be no service in Livingston­e Memorial Church.

Alpha Course will take place on Sunday, February 24, at 3.30pm and will run for the next four weeks in Livingston­e Memorial Church Hall. All welcome to attend. Members of the Kirk Session will meet on Monday, February 25, at 7pm.

Wednesday Worship will be held on Wednesday, February 27, we will be having a 30-minute midweek service from 10am to 10.30am, with praise, prayer and a thought for the day. During February we meet in the hall in Livingston­e Memorial Church, and move to St Andrew’s Church during March. Open to all, and an opportunit­y to meet together for a time of worship.

Hi-lows Singing Group will meet on Wednesday,february 27, between 7pm and 8.15pm in the church.

World Day of Prayer is being held in St Joseph’s Church on Friday, March 1, at 7pm. All are very welcome to attend.

Sporting Memories Group will meet on Wednesday, March 6, at 7.30pm in the small hall within Livingston­e Memorial Church. We meet every two weeks to discuss all sports related topics. Contact Iain Mcmillan 01698 823325/0784787554­6 for more informatio­n. All welcome to attend.

Brew and Blether we continue meeting every Thursday between 10.30am and noon in the church hall. It would be lovely to see you for a cuppa and a wee blether. Everyone will be made most welcome.

HAMILTON OLD PARISH CHURCH

This Sunday, February 24, our service is at 10.45am with worship being led by Rev Ross Blackman. We look forward to welcoming the leaders and girls from the Brownies to this service for their World Thinking Day.

The Brownies are hosting the coffee morning after the service and would appreciate your support.

Today, Thursday, our film club starts at 1.30pm so feel free to join us and see what film is in store.

On Monday afternoon our Monday Club meet at 1.30pm and in the evening we have tae kwon do at 6.15pm, badminton and Saffronhal­l Singers at 7.30pm.

Our decoupage group meet at 1pm on Tuesday and later in the day we have Brownies at 6.15pm, banner group at 7.30pm and the Old Kirk Dancers at 7.45pm.

All sections of our Boys’ Brigade meet from 5.30pm on Wednesday, with the choir meeting at 7pm.

GILMOUR AND WHITEHILL CHURCH

John Nicolson, our locum will conduct our worship next Sunday, February 24 at 10am. A warm invitation is extended to all.

Rev Terry Taylor, interim moderator of our linked charge, will chair the Stated Annual Meeting of our congregati­on immediatel­y after and it is hoped that most folks will remain for this meeting.

Tea and coffee will be served in the coffee lounge at the conclusion of this meeting.

The Memories Tearoom will, once again, open on Thursday, February 28. A loving invitation is extended to those who live with dementia and their carers to come along to enjoy good company a cup of tea and a blether. There is always entertainm­ent and the chance to relax just for a wee while.

We look forward to being the host church for The World Day of Prayer service which is being held on Friday, March 1, at 2pm. This has, in the past, proved to be a lovely afternoon service with representa­tives from Gilmour and Whitehill, Hillhouse Parish and St Cuthbert’s/st Ninian’s Parishes taking part. Tea and coffee and a selection of goodies always follows, so who could resist?

Arrangemen­ts have been made for a Country and Western Evening to be held on Friday, March 29, at 7.30pm. Tickets are now on sale price £5.

We are encouragin­g folks to come along dressed in country and western style and prizes will be awarded to best dressed male and best dressed female.

ST JOHN THE BAPTIST CHURCH, UDDINGSTON

The Mary’s Meals group are having a coffee morning after the 10am mass this Sunday. Home baking and help on the day would be much appreciate­d. The Government are doubling all money raised till March 1.

Our monthly Medjugorje Mass is on Monday, February 25, beginning with a rosary at 7pm followed by mass at 7.30pm.

Please come along and join us. The next baptismal talk for parents and sponsors is on Monday, March 4, at 7.30pm in the hall.

The Pro Life group will meet on March 4 at 7pm in the small hall. All welcome.

Our Medjugorje pilgrimage­s this year are July 3-10, July 7-14, and August 25Septembe­r 1 costing £699 including flight, transfers, insurance and seven nights half board in Hotel Leone.

On Monday the padre pio prayer Group meet after the 9.30am Mass and a silent Prayer Vigil for Life is held from 8pm to 9pm..

The SVDP meet at 5.30pm on Tuesdays and the RCIA continues at 7pm in the small hall.

On Wednesdays a Divine Mercy Hour begins at 3pm in the Oratory and a Prayer and Praise Group from 8pm - 9pm.

The prayer garden is open Mondays to Saturdays 10am-5pm.

Church cleaning is on Friday mornings after mass if anyone would like to help.

Sunday masses: vigil 4.30pm, 10am, noon, 6pm. Weekday mass: 9.30am daily. Rosary : 9.10am daily. Confession­s: Saturday 9am-9.25am and after vigil mass.

HAMILTON BAPTIST CHURCH

The service on Sunday morning (February 24) at 10.45am will be led by the senior pastor, David Wilson. The evening service 6.30pm will be a youth service and be led by the Youth Pastor, Jonathan Davie, and the young people of the church who will be sharing their favourite bible verses and stories.

The morning the service will be followed by light refreshmen­ts in the church halls. After the morning service, two members of the congregati­on will be available to pray with anyone.

The guest speaker at the senior citizens meeting on Monday, February 25 at 2pm will be Robbie Toop, who is the pastoral assistant and represents mission Africa.

HAMILTON SOUTH PARISH CHURCH

Our locum Lynette Jardine will conduct the service on Sunday at 11.15am. The Sunday school will meet during the service and tea, coffee, will be available after the service.

The Bible study group will meet at 9.30am. The bacon buttie event last Sunday made £169 and thanks go to those who supported this.

The craft sharing group meet on Monday at 10am and the prayer group at 6.30pm.

The adult badminton group meet on Tuesday at 8pm.

The Wednesday fellowship meets at 9.30am, followed by the coffee shop at 10am and the community nearly new shop at 11am. In the evening the Snowdrops meet at 5.30pm, the Brownies at 6.30pm and the Guides at 7.30pm.

The Bible study group meet on Thursday at 7.30pm.

A pancake party is being planned for March 3. Anyone willing to assist, please see Joanne.

HILLHOUSE PARISH CHURCH

Our service on Sunday will start at 10.45am and will be led by Rev Christophe­r Rankine.

On Tuesday, February 26, the Guild of Friendship meet from 2pm when they will have Eleanor Mair as speaker.

On Wednesday, CAMEO will meet at 7.30pm and we will have Naida Meek who will entertain us with a musicals evening.

On Friday, March 1, the World day of Prayer service will take place in Gilmour and Whitehill Church starting at 2pm. As always tea, coffee and home baking will be served.

ST JOHN’S CHURCH HAMILTON

Morning worship at St John’s Church Hamilton will be led by Rev Joanne Hood at 10.45am on Sunday, February 24. A creche is available for younger children, while older children attend Sunday Blast. The evening service will be held at 6.30pm. All will be made most welcome at either service.

Details of all the church organisati­ons are available in the centre.

The Friday toddler group are looking for new members to enable them to remain open. If you are interested, contact the office in the centre.

The midweek service, lasting 15-30 minutes, will be held at 12.15pm on Thursday, February 21 in the church sanctuary.

On Saturday, March 16, from 11am to 4pm the Heart & Soul Swing Band will be hosting their second ‘Sing with the Swing Band’ day. Tickets are available online. Details on the church Bulletin.

On Saturday, March 9, at 2pm a screening of the Passion Play, The Passion of Jesus, which is performed each Good Friday in Trafalgar Square, London, will be held in Hamilton Old Parish Church halls.

St John’s Centre, Book Corner and Chapel open Monday to Saturday, 10am to 4pm.

HAMILTON WEST PARISH CHURCH

Our next service at the West will be on Sunday, February 24, at 11.30am and the service will be led by our locum John Nicolson, Church of Scotland Reader. The Sunday school meets during the service for children from creche to secondary school so all children are welcome.

The 2nd Hamilton Boys’ Brigade are holding a quiz night on Saturday, March 2.

BLANTYRE OLD

Rev Sarah Ross will lead worship at 11pm on Sunday. All welcome. Sunday Club meet as usual. Refreshmen­ts will be available in the hall following the service. On Sunday afternoon at 2pm there will be a service at Kirkton.

This Thursday, February 21, the guild meet at 7.15pm and this week are having a memories evening called Who is Who? Next week the guild will hear about ‘Special Needs Adventure Play’ from Sheila Halford.

On Monday at 1.45pm the leisure group will be entertaine­d by Joyces Voices.

The next Kirk Care Service is Thursday, February 28, at 2pm.

There will be a Messy Church event on Sunday, March 3, from 4.30pm to 6.30pm. It will be a Lent themed event with some pancake games and challenges.

BLANTYRE CONGREGATI­ONAL CHURCH

on Our thanks are extended to Kenneth Whyte for leading our worship on Sunday past.

On Friday evening the Junior Section of 2nd Blantyre Boys; Brigade meet in our church hall at 6.15pm, followed by the Company Section at 7.45pm.

On Sunday our minister Rev Malcolm Anderson returns to our pulpit to led our worship which begins at 11am. Our Sunday school The Ark, for primary age children, also meet in the sanctuary before heading off for their own activities. After our service, our minister holds a vestry meeting which is by appointmen­t.

On Sunday night, group three of our volunteers are on duty at the Hamilton Churches Drop-in Centre.

The centre opens at 7pm each night and provides a three-course meal to those in need.

The centre also offers free washing and drying facilities and a second hand cloth store. The centre is located on Beckford Street in Hamilton.

On Monday night our ladies’ group The Newcomers Club meet at 7.30pm with an invited guest speaker.

On Tuesday night the church AGM takes place at 7pm.

On Wednesday our Anchor Boys meet at 6.30pm in our church hall.
