Larkhalland Districtvolunteer Group

-

Larkhall and District Volunteer group celebrate their 25th anniversary this year and will be recognising this special milestone in several different ways throughout the year.

To start proceedings, the board treated volunteers and staff to a quiz night and buffet on Friday, September 20, at St Tam’s in Larkhall.

There was a raffle and prizes for the quiz winners: 1st, Margaret Gibson; 2nd, Marion Murray; and joint 3rd, James Mcallister and Anne Alston.

Peter Hughes, from Lanark, provided the entertainment and everyone enjoyed a great night. Other events are planned for early spring next year for members past and present to celebrate this memorable occasion.

The brilliant walking group produced the goods last month when they raised £1732 with their sponsored walk round Millport.

With only 11 members taking part this was a fantastic achievement and beats all our records for this event. Grateful thanks to all who took part and to those who supported and sponsored this event.

The new craft group is getting into the swing and members have been enjoying card making for the last couple of weeks.

Future projects will include jewellery making, origami and whatever you would like to do.

At the moment the group meets on a Wednesday morning from 10am till noon and all are welcome. The new afternoon call line service is up and running and we have spaces for more members to sign up.

This service offers a regular telephone call for elderly and vulnerable people in the community and if you or someone you know would benefit from this service, please get in touch.

Lots of things going on at LDVG every week.
