Taylor High pupils gather with primary school kids

-

Youngsters from Taylor High’s cluster schools got together.

The primary school kids gathered to celebrate Catholic Education Week in a number of ways.

Students from Taylor attended masses in all of the parishes and took part in the liturgy supported by staff.

In most cases a senior Caritas student spoke to the congregation about the importance of Catholic education in communities.

All of the associated cluster schools, six in total, were also represented by pupils and staff at a special annual cluster mass in honour of Catholic Education celebrated by Father Martin Delaney.

The musical liturgy was led by Fiona Cannon, principal teacher of music, who was very ably supported by departmental staff Karina Mchugh and Emma Cluckie. Technical support was provided by Brendan Murphy, senior technician.

The final element of the cluster’s input to the week was a newsletter in full colour.

A Taylor High spokesperson said: “Huge thanks to colleagues in all associated schools for their co-operation with this celebration of Catholic education.”

Meanwhile, Taylor High pupils are taking part in their annual collection of food for the needy.

Pupils are asked to bring in tinned or dried goods which are then distributed in Christmas parcels with the help of local conferences of the Saint Vincent De Paul Society. Children are able to sign up to bring in particular goods in their religious education class. All donations are welcomed

In religious education classes, pupils are making donations to fill Christmas parcels for the needy.

Preparations are also underway for the end-of-term carol concert which has been designated‘ carols by Candle light’ this session.

The the Higher computing science students recently visited Edge Testing at their offices in Strathclyde Business Park in Bellshill. They found out first-hand about the various different testing techniques and how software needs to be fully tested before public release.
