Sergeant moves on to new role

-

As we approach what is traditionally a time for considering change, I am moving on to a new role in the New Year.

After what has been a 15-year association with Larkhall, Stonehouse, Ashgill and Netherburn, I am leaving the sub-division to take up another posting within the division.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here and will miss the position I currently hold, where I have been fortunate to have had the opportunity to work closely with members of the public who have found themselves in serious or difficult situations.

I have also been heavily involved in the wider community, working alongside people and organisations who care about their community and set their own time aside to make thing better for those around them.

I have also been grateful for the opportunity to work side by side with partner agencies such as Scottish Fire and Rescue, local authority departments such as housing, education, social work and elected members, as we all tried and will continue to try to improve lives and keep people safe.

I am very grateful to also have had the chance to work with front-line police officers who are genuinely dedicated to doing their job and who work really hard every day to make sure we are delivering the best service we can to the public, often in very difficult circumstances.

Whoever takes over this role will have a fantastic opportunity.

In keeping with the change theme, I would also like to let you know that Inspector Derek Hamilton has also moved on to a temporary role outside of the Lanarkshire Division. This happened at relatively short notice, but he wished me to pass on his thanks for the public’s help over the last five years whilst covering the Hamilton and Larkhall areas and to reassure you that his position will be filled quickly.

Staying with Hamilton, local officers are making enquiries into several vandalisms to vehicles that occurred between the evening of Thursday, December 12, and morning of Friday, December 13, on Neilsland Road. At least seven vehicles were targeted by person(s) who scratched the paintwork of the vehicles and committed other similar types of damage. CCTV is being checked for any sightings of possible suspects, but if you have any information relative to this incident please contact PC Clark at Hamilton Police office.

Finally, a property on East Machan Street, Larkhall, was vandalised, where a window of the property was smashed. This occurred around 11pm on Saturday, December 14.

This is not the first time the property has been targeted in the last few years and it has greatly upset the householder.

Please contact PC Mutter at Larkhall police office if you were around that area at the material time or if you have any information about who was responsible.
