Star is a KLASS act with youngsters

Students at Stonehouse’s KLASS Musical Theatre were stunned when they received a ‘good luck’ message from a Hollywood star ahead of their Christmas Extravagan­za last month.

American actress Kathy Najimy, star of movies like Hocus Pocus, Sister Act and Descendant­s, recorded a video and sent it to teacher Kirsten Longmuir to play to the kids ahead of their festive shows at Stonehouse Lifestyles on December 21.

Children at Kirsten Longmuir’s Advanced Stage School (KLASS) were filmed watching the clip, and couldn’t believe it when the actress wished them well.

Kirsten was delighted with their reaction.

She said: “We contacted her, asking her if she could wish our kids good luck, as we are performing some songs from Hocus Pocus and Sister Act.

“We showed it to the kids as a surprise before their shows on the Saturday – they were so surprised!

“They know her from Descendant­s, and it really inspired them to give it their all.

“It meant a lot to me, too, because I grew up with these films and to have one of the stars wish us good luck and mention us by name meant a great deal.

Following their Christmas break, students at KLASS are not resting on their laurels, as they are about to start preparing for their summer production of Cats: The Musical.

Students aged from four to 16 are welcome to enrol in the theatre school, regardless of experience.

KLASS are also starting up tap, ballet and acro classes on Saturdays.
