Colourful window art helps lift spirits

Cheery children are continuing to brighten up Hamilton and surroundin­g towns amidst the doom and gloom of Covid-19.

Youngsters are still creating colourful rainbow pictures and sticking them in their windows in a bid to make people smile.

Others have simply painted watercolou­rs straight on to the window.

Some of Scotland’s most exciting up-andcoming musical acts are set to for an exclusive live performanc­e at a drive-in gig at Strathclyd­e Park.

The event – set to take place across Friday and Saturday, September 4 and 5 – at M&D’S theme park will allow music lovers to enjoy a socially-distanced concert.

It will feature acts such as local singer Carly Connor, Glasgow-based soul and funk band Tom Mcguire & The Brassholes and previous Scottish Alternativ­e Music Award Best Live Act and festival favourites Colonel Mustard & The Dijon 5,.

And as thank you to all the NHS workers for their continued efforts, the first night of the event will be solely dedicated to them – offering free tickets to the concerts debut evening on the Friday on a first-come, first-served basis.

Colonel Mustard & The Dijon 5 will be headlining both days. There will also be a warm-up set from the band’s Mark‘dj5’ Lang, who will be welcoming guests with a series of dance anthems and club classics.

Marc Taylor, of Scotland’s Theme Park, said:“the past few months of lockdown have been particular­ly challengin­g youngsters are cheering up neighbourh­oods with their artwork, many doing it as part of their at-home art lessons.

Colonel JT from Colonel Mustard & The Dijon 5, said:“this is a fantastic chance to thank our amazing NHS frontline workers, as well as kickstart the music economy in our local area in a safe way with a very welcome return to playing live for The Dijon Family again.”

Tickets to the event are priced at £45 per car, with an additional booking fee.

Toilet facilities and catering etc will be available in specific zones to allow social distancing across the evening.
