Chairman wants to add more
Hamilton Accies have added midfielders Ross Callachan and Charlie Trafford – with more set to follow this week.
Chairman Allan Maitland says Accies are working on ‘one or two other things’ and have trialists in this week as they return to training ahead of the start of the Scottish Premiership campaign.
Callachan, 26, joins from St Johnstone, having also starred for Hearts, and he was out on loan at Dundee earlier this year.
Trafford, 28, flew in from Canada to seal his switch from Inverness Caley Thistle, where he played for three years.
The Advertiser understands that the club are in talks to bring back an experienced former player to the club in the coming days.
Maitland says the duo will complete his search for midfielders, but wants to strengthen in other areas.
He said: “[Manager] Brian Rice knows both players very well, and Ross was a player we were looking at before, so we’re delighted with both.
“We’re working on some other bits and pieces, but we’re delighted to have both of them secured today.
“We’re aware of the fact that we’ve got a younger squad this season, and with the players that have left we had a couple of gaps, so both Ross and Charlie will go a long way to filling that, particularly in the middle of the park.
“This strengthens us in that area, we’re delighted with both of them.
“I’m looking on to other areas now, and I’m quite happy with our midfield. I’m hoping to sign a couple more this week.
“We’re expecting a couple of injuries once we start training and playing, so we have some trialists in as well, and we’ll see how that works out.”
