Family thank people for their support after death of Jordan, 18

- LEONA GREENAN

The family of a young Hamilton man who tragically died at the weekend have thanked the public for their love and support over the last few days.

The body of 18-year-old Jordan Goodwin was recovered from the water in Mugdock Country Park, Milngavie, shortly after 6pm on Saturday.

His sudden death has left his friends and family devastated, with pals rallying to organise a prize bingo evening in memory of the Hamilton teen, with all proceeds going to his heartbroken family.

A Justgiving page has also been set up “to help take the stress off the family”.

Jordan’s family are said to be extremely touched by the local community’s kindness, with his sister Shanice Goodwin thanking people in a Facebook post.

She said: “Close family friends have went above and beyond for our family and we are eternally grateful for every donation, cards, flowers and messages we have all received.

“They have organised this and again anything, absolutely anything will help! All our love, the Goodwin family.”

In an earlier post about her brother she said: “There’s only one Jordan Goodwin. The world’s best boy.

“Shine bright brother. Our hearts are broken.

“We love you so bloody much our boy!”

Another sister, Leona Goodwin, said: “Sleep tight little bro. No words can describe how devastated we all are. We all love you so much.”

His aunt Sarah Semple added: “Sleep tight my darling boy. Cannot believe you are gone, forever in our hearts and missed so very much, love you always my gorgeous nephew.”

Sharon Finnigan said: “So sorry to hear this. Jordan was a lovely boy who played with Mill United.

So tragic. Thinking of all the family.”

One of Jordan’s friends, Jamielee Kelly, set up the crowdfunder to help towards funeral costs and “take the stress off the family”.

In just a few days over £3500 had already been raised of a £5000 target online.

Page organiser Jamielee posted:“every little helps towards the cost of the funeral for the Goodwin family at this devastating time. Rip Jordan.”

Enquiries are ongoing into the death, although police say it is not being treated as suspicious.
