Larkhall pupils claim medals
Larkhall Academy have been celebrating the successes of their young pupils, who have achieved medals in various sports and events.
The school’s talented athletes were involved in a Scottish Schools Athletics competition while two more were involved in February’s Scottish Novice Boxing Championships.
Girls from the school’s fifth year class - Codie Mcholmes, Sophie Evans and Chloe Evans - were among those involved in athletics competition while Cody Houston and Regan Steele fought in the ring.
While a variety of Larkhall competitors featured in the
Scottish Schools test, it was their female trio who took home a silver medal each, with Evans also picking up a bronze.
Houston took heavyweight gold at the Novice Championships at Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility in Motherwell, representing Hamilton ABC.
Steele meanwhile is part of Blantyre’s Priestfield Boxing Club and went on to win against a strong opponent in the final of a class 48kg weight class showpiece.
The Larkhall school have been left thrilled with the success of their pupils, praising everybody involved with the events.
A school statement reads:“many pupils from Larkhall Academy competed in the Scottish Schools Athletics competition and a number of our pupils medalled in their events.
“Among those who received medals were Codie Mcholmes, silver in the over 16’s 300m, Sophie Evans, silver in the over 16’s 200m and bronze in the over 16’s 60m, and Chloe Hill, silver in the under 16’s 300m.
“Cody Houston and Regan Steele both won gold in the Scottish Boxing Championships for their weight categories.
“We are over the moon for our S5 girls and the other pupils who competed on the day.”
