TAYLOR-MADE PERFECTION

Hamilton Accies boss Stuart Taylor watched his side tear Partick Thistle apart in a ‘perfect performance’at Firhill last weekend and has urged ‘same again’ when Queen of the South come calling.

Strikes by Andy Ryan and David Moyo had Accies 2-0 up at the interval, with Ryan netting his double before Andy Winter added a fourth, and Taylor admits that has given his side a major boost.

It leaves them nine points clear of basement side Queen of the South going into Saturday’s clash, and gives them the chance to move closer to Raith Rovers in fifth spot.

Taylor says that has always been the target, but his side maybe has that little extra incentive now.

He said: “It’s important that we go and be as confident as we have been and make sure that we stamp our authority on the game early doors, and try to win the game.

“It’s really a case of what we did on Saturday, can we continue to do that, can we do it a little bit better again.

“On Saturday we took our chances, but we kept a clean sheet, which was the perfect performance and result, really.

“Queen of the South are under different management now, Willie Gibson has gone in and done really well, and they’re actually playing really good football.

“They’re a real threat in games, we’ve watched their last three games and other games throughout the time he has been in, and they’ve done really well.

“It’s going to be a really difficult game, and certainly with the result for Dunfermline [a 4-1 win over Partick Thistle on Tuesday] it changes their league position, so they’ll be fighting, and doing everything they have to go and do to try and get some sort of a foothold in the game.”

Taylor has called on his side to be more ruthless this season and reckons the four-goal show over Partick is no less than his side deserves for recent displays.

He added: “I think Saturday was perfect in how we went and set out our stall and how we went to go and play – and we got our rewards.

“The performances that we’ve been showing for quite a lot of this season, we certainly merited goals, clean sheets and three points.

“I thought the front three were excellent, the middle four were brilliant and the back three, including Ryan Fulton for keeping the clean sheet, were fantastic.”
