Full list of contenders for South Lanarkshire poll 2022

Scottish local elections are coming up and the full list of candidates who are running in South Lanarkshire has been revealed.

The elections will be held on Thursday, May 5, and voters can choose who they want to represent them in their wards.

For the 20 wards in South Lanarkshire, there will be 64 councillors chosen.

To vote for your chosen councillor, you will be given one white ballot paper and will vote using numbers.

You will number the candidates in order of your preference, starting with number one in the box next to the name of your first chosen candidate.

You can make as many or as few choices as you want.

South Lanarkshire residents must register to vote by April 18 to vote in local council elections. Eligible voters must be aged over 16.

Candidates who are running for each ward are as follows.

Ward 1 – Clydesdale West (four councillors to elect): Neil Barton (Scottish Greens), Poppy Corbett (Scottish Conservative and Unionist), Lynsey Hamilton (Labour and Co-operative Party), Eileen Logan (Scottish Labour Party), Peter Charles Meehan (Scottish Liberal Democrats), David Shearer (Scottish National Party) and Andrew Wilson (Scottish National Party).

Ward 2 – Clydesdale North (three councillors to elect): Richard Lockhart (Scottish Conservative and Unionist), Ronald Logan (Independent), Julia Marrs (Scottish National Party), Catherine Mcclymont (Scottish Labour Party) and John Scott (Independent).

Ward 3 – Clydesdale East (three councillors to elect): Alex Allison (Scottish Conservative and Unionist), Ralph Barker (Scottish Labour Party), Eric Holford (Scottish Conservative and Unionist), Gareth Kirk (Scottish Family Party), Ian Mcallan (Scottish National Party), John Mclatchie (Scottish National Party), Nicholas Mark Tucker (Scottish Liberal Democrats) and Claire Elizabeth Watson (Scottish Greens).

Ward 4 – Clydesdale South (three councillors to elect): Ross Gowland (Scottish Labour Party), George Greenshields (Independent), Mark Horsham (Scottish National Party), Ross

Lambie (Scottish Conservative and Unionist), Janice Mckay (UKIP), Colin Mcgavin (Independent), Ann Mcguinness (Scottish Greens) and Imogen Walker (Scottish Labour Party).

Ward 5 – Avondale and Stonehouse (three councillors to elect): Erica Bradley Young (Scottish Greens), Gary Burns (Scottish Conservative and Unionist), Margaret Cooper (Independent), Elise Frame (Scottish National Party), Susan Kerr (Scottish Labour Party), Colin Maclaren (Alba Party of Independence) and Leigh Payne (Scottish National Party).

Ward 6 – East Kilbride South (three councillors to elect): Archie Buchannan (Scottish National Party), Mathew Buchannan (Labour and Co-operative Party), Ross Gibson (Scottish Libertarian Party), Geri Gray (Scottish National Party), Iain Leckenby (Alba Party), Paul Mcgarry (Scottish Liberal Democrats), John Mckechnie (Scottish Greens), Patrick Nailon (Scottish Conservative and Unionist) Jonathan Richardson (Scottish Family Party).

Ward 8 – East Kilbride Central North (three councillors to elect):
