Enrolment for nursery is open

-

Registration is open for South Lanarkshire parents to enrol their children for nursery.

Parents with youngsters aged two, three and four who will be eligible for funded nursery places from August this year can register them now.

The deadline for enrolling children due to attend nursery after the summer is February 28.

Chair of the council’s Education Resources Committee, councillor Gavin Keatt, said:“nursery is an integral part of a young child’s development, helping them build the social and cognitive skills that will help them with their education as they go on through life. It also provides lots of fun, stimulation and exciting opportunities for your child. And with funded places available for all three- and four-year-olds and some two-year-olds, I hope every family with eligible children will consider enrolling them in early years education.”

The Scottish Government provides funding for early learning and childcare places for all three- to four-year-olds and eligible two-year-olds; the places are provided through the council’s nurseries and also through funded providers in the private and voluntary sectors and childminders.

The council provides a flexible service for parents and carers, children who are aged three between March 1 and August 31, 2023, are eligible for a funded place starting from August 14 this year.

If a child’s birthday falls between September 1, 2023, and February 29, 2024, they can access a funded place from the Monday following their third birthday.

There is a nursery A to Z and an area list available for details of both council and funded provider nurseries and childminders. Once parents have decided which option they would like they should complete the online application form at the council’s website.
