Hamilton Accies players and fans celebrated in style in the town on Sunday night after scooping the SPFL Trust Trophy.

As the team bus returned from the Falkirk Stadium, over 150 delighted supporters gathered to welcome them home outside the Academical Vaults pub.

The celebrations were in full flow as they spilled out into the street singing and dancing the night away after their side’s 1-0 victory over Raith Rovers.

Video footage emerged online of the fans lapping up the cup win as the team bus pulled up with the players, including goal scorer Reghan Tumilty, leaving the coach to join in the celebrations and pose for pictures.

The players then delighted fans further by making their way around to another of the club’s sponsors, The Bay Horse, where they partied with a further 250 joyful supporters.

Ewan Mcgregor of The Bay Horse said: “What a night. The icing on the cake being the Accies team turning up to celebrate their amazing cup win with fans. A huge well done to John Rankin, Darian Mackinnon,

George Cairns, Brian Potter and the players on a momentous win for the club and thank you also for coming along to The Bay Horse Hamilton and showing us your continued support.”

Meanwhile, two bus loads of Accies season ticket holders kicked off their cup final day with a free meal.

The group of 100 diehards received their free grub courtesy of club sponsor, German Doner Kebab, on Townhead Street, Hamilton, before then being given a free lift to and from the match, in two luxury coaches.

The fans joined another 2000 Accies supporters at the Falkirk Stadium to see their team seal the club’s first trophy win in 30 years.

Accies commercial director Colin Mcgowan said: “What a fantastic day for everyone involved with Accies – the players, management team, backroom staff, supporters and sponsors – it was truly amazing.

“A huge thank you to German Doner Kebab in Hamilton town centre for providing the first 100 season ticket holders to buy their cup final ticket with a free doner kebab before heading off in the free transport provided to the match also.

“We hope everyone thoroughly enjoyed the day.”
