Kinder’s surprise goal not enough for Uxies

LISA Kinder put in a superb performance but was unable to prevent Old Uxonians Ladies slipping to a derby defeat to Old Merchant Taylors’ Duchesses.
Kinder was the only scorer for the below-par Uxies as they were beaten 5-1. Old Uxonians take on Ashford at home on Saturday.
It was a good weekend for Eastcote’s men despite the team’s game in MBBO Division One with Staines seconds being postponed because of a frozen pitch.
The league’s top-two both dropped points to leave the Boars just one win away from the top.
In the same division, Old Merchant Taylors’ went down 2-0 to Oxford seconds and they drop to 10th ahead of hosting Oxford Hawks seconds at the weekend.
Eastcote thirds maintained top spot in MBBO Division Three with a 2-0 win at Windsor thanks to a Jimmy Thomas brace.
The fourths also are top of their league and had Jat Chana to thank for a late equaliser against fellow promotion contenders Reading University in a 3-3 draw but the fifths lost 5-1 at Wycombe.
All three Eastcote ladies team in action were caught in the cold, with no-one picking up points.
The seconds lost out 2-1 to West Hampstead, Jackie Ripley with the lone goal, while the thirds were beaten 4-1 by Hampstead & Westminster fifths, Nicola Mansbridge with the Eastcote reply.
Eastcote’s fifths faced Ashford thirds with junior Phillippa Jones claiming the sole goal in a 3-1 reverse.
