Fulbrook’s triple win
JOAN Fulbrook was a triple winner at Harlington Bowls Club’s finals day – landing no fewer than three trophies.
She beat Sheila Cutmore in both the handicap and two woods singles finals, winning 25-10 and 17-10 respectively, before edging past Betty Poole 11-10 in the yardstick final.
Cutmore, however, shook off those defeats to secure three pieces of silverware herself, not least the ladies championship, in which she saw off Brenda Reed 23-19.
She also teamed up with Cathy Fitzgerald to win the two wood pairs final 15-11 against Reed and Val Lewis, then with Derek Cutmore to take the mixed pairs 21-15 over Lewis and Steve Brennan.
It was not success all the way for Fulbrook either, as she went down 76-74 to Reed in the 75 points final.
Jonathan Marriage beat Derek Cutmore 21-16 in the men’s championship final, but lost the handicap 21-19 to Steve Brennan, while Cutmore gained revenge by beating Marriage 21-15 in the two wood singles.
Cutmore also took the two wood pairs after teaming up with Don Maylin to see off Alan Macolive and Dave Anderson 19-13, but was on the losing side with John Eddington in the club pairs, which was won by Brennan and Terry Markham 16-11.
Harlington lost on all three rinks in a friendly at Denham on Saturday, on their way to an overall 70-36 defeat.
