Trailfinders take third win in a row
BEN WARD was more than satisfied after his Ealing Trailfinders scored a bonus-point victory 42-26 at London Scottish in the Championship on Friday night.
The director of rugby saw his men continue their excellent start to the new year with a third straight win against their local rivals at the Athletic Ground.
The Trailfinders produced a sublime second-half performance, scoring four tries in the second 40 minutes to run away with an impressive victory.
Tries from Tommy Bell, Sam Dickinson, Reon Joseph and two from Jordan Els ensured that the Green & Whites made it three triumphs on the spin.
“The boys executed the plan perfectly,” said Ward.
“We have been working on Friday night rugby as you have to play slightly differently.
“We controlled the game really well in the second half and it was a very good second-half performance, even though they scored two tries during that time which we won’t be happy with.
“When we played high up the field we didn’t give them an easy exit.
“The guys are pretty disappointed with the four tries conceded, but overall we are very happy.
“It’s just a mentality thing. It’s just switching off at times. Just because we are a few points up it doesn’t mean we have to play loose.
“We have a real powerful bench and there are a few guys coming back which will enhance the team [even more] in the next couple of weeks. It will give us good competition for places.
“The Christmas break came at a good time for us and after the Newcastle defeat it was time to reassess what we do and effectively that’s week to week playing good rugby.”
