Conservative Party continues to party

-

OVER half of Britain wants Boris Johnson to resign as Prime Minister. I agree.

Every day he disgraces the great office he was never fit to hold. But the problem isn’t just Johnson. It’s the whole Tory Party.

They gave him a seat in Parliament, then chose him as Prime Minister (without us getting a say). Most Tory MPs and Tory party members voted for him in the 2019 leadership election, even though they all knew what he was like.

So long as he could win a General Election, and keep them in power, they would worry about the consequences later.

As I write, at least 17 Tory Party parties during lockdown are being investigated. That figure will increase.

If you thought the ‘bring your own booze’ Number 10 party attended by Johnson in May 2020 was shameful, then you would have been disgusted by two Number 10 parties, fuelled by suitcases of wine, on the eve of Prince Philip’s funeral.

The Queen grieved alone. She kept to the rules, so why can’t the Tory Party?

Yet the vast majority of the 350 Tory MPs, and all the cabinet, still support and defend Johnson.

Foreign Secretary Liz Truss tells us it’s time to ‘move on’ from the outrage about Tory Party parties.

What an insult to the relatives and friends of the 150,000 who’ve died from Covid, and weren’t able to be with them at the end, and/or couldn’t go to their funerals.

They followed the rules whilst Johnson and his friends partied and partied. Johnson has made Britain a laughing stock, but the whole Tory Party is to blame. They keep him in office and defend him.

We can’t wait for the 2024 election. They should all resign now so we can remove them all, and start again with a government that has integrity and competence. David Bodimeade
