A NEW Hilton hotel which could be built on a car park site next to Heathrow Airport would give plane-spotters impressive views across the runways.

The proposed hotel, called Hampton by Hilton, has an estimated building cost of £100m.

It would have 157 rooms and be seven storeys high, giving guests wide-spanning vistas across the airport complex.

The proposed site in Bath Road is currently used as a car park by residents and employees of a housing and office block next door.

The hotel design would feature large glass windows and exposed brick facades. If built, the Hilton would employ up to 40 members of staff and have meeting rooms, a gym, a 28-space car park, restaurant and 24-hour lobby bar.

The hotel, which would be built by Acre Hotels of the Westcombe Group, has yet to receive planning permission and is currently open to consultation from residents and other locals. Some residents have already voiced concerns with the proposed hotel, saying it would block light to their homes.

One resident wrote: “I object to this project. The size of this proposed development will mean we have a loss of natural light and I don’t think it is right.”

Another resident echoed the concerns and said: “In [my] flat there is a lack of natural light being on the bottom floor therefore with the construction of this building I will be met with no natural light. Moreover as I work from home and constantly in meetings the noise will be unbearable.”

A decision on whether to grant planning permission will be made by Hillingdon Council next month. If approved, developers hope to start building in April this year with an aim for completion by November 2023.

According to planning application documents submitted to the council, Acre Hotels estimate that the cost of building the hotel could be as high as £100 million.

The developers received planning permission to build a six-storey hotel on the site in 2019, but reapplying for permission to make the building one storey taller, as well as to make several design changes.
