Brentford board scored its own own goal
PREMIER League managers Rapha Benitez and Claudio Ranieri have recently lost their jobs at Everton and Watford, due to a poor run of results.
Brentford have also had a dismal recent run of performances, loosing six of their last seven matches. The main problem is down to not scoring goals, and missing so many opportunities to score when they occur.
After the most recent embarrassing home defeat by Wolverhampton, where they went a goal down, managed to equalise, only to concede another goal, loosing 1-2. I would have expected the Brentford board to be greatly concerned, with the sequence of so many defeats. And have felt it necessary to hold an emergency meeting on the Monday that followed, with coach Frank in attendance. With a view to establishing what had gone wrong on the field, leading to such a poor run of form.
Instead, as reported in your sports section last week and elsewhere, they announced astonishingly, they had extended Frank’s contract for two years! Surely, it would have been more prudent to wait until the end of the season, to ensure the club had retained its place in the Premier League, before granting any extension of contract.
